NVIDIA introduced both the Project Shield gaming console and Tegra 4 platform in January 2013. However since then the Snapdragon chipset and GPU maker has struggled a lot to get back in the game. The latest Snapdragon chipset of Qualcomm is getting a lot of attention these days and the manufacturer has managed to bring its new Snapdragon 600 chipset to the market on time. Even the more powerful Snapdragon chipset is almost ready to be released for the users.
NIVIDIA is another popular manufacturer in this field which is about to bring its next generation quad core chip inside many upcoming tablets and smartphones. Its portable video game console based on android platform will be the first commercial device that will be powered by Tegra 4. This latest video game console is currently codenamed as Project Shield.
The maker does not ensure while the device will be provided with the processing power that may run even the most demanding android video games. Someone having possession of Project Shield console ran the most popular AnTuTu Benchmark on the device. The score recorded out of this benchmark was over 32000 points while on the other hand the Snapdragon chipset made an amazing score of about 25000 points.
The benchmarks may not be an accurate source of information always and can be faked sometimes. The device that appeared on AnTuTu Benchmark is not possibly a Shield console at all and the results can be manipulated any time. Also, if this data that is reported from Benchmark results is correct than the Tegra 4 by NIVIDIA is hopefully a high competition for Snapdragon 600 chipset.
